Hen Party Packages Nottingham

Why Nottingham for a hen party

This diverse city has something to offer a whole range of tastes. Nottingham houses the oldest pub in the UK, Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem, which was built in the 12th century against the bedrock of Nottingham Castle. With this history and as the very first city in the UK to relax drinking laws, this city now has one of most densely populated bar areas open at all hours, so hen groups are free to roam and might suit groups who don’t want to have everything too organised.

Nottingham Hen Party Packages

For the reasons above, this city has a heck of a lot on offer, it’s a bit overwhleming! So I figured it would be more helpful to review some of the packages designed for hen parties, as there are many companies vying for your business. Best way to sift through these is to look at packages which would suit your hen budget best.

Amazingly good deals to be had by a variety of companies who specialise in putting packages together which includes accommodation and all group activities under £150 – absolute bargain (the following correct at the time of writing this):

  • For £112pp, “It’s a Knockout” party package will get you a day of mayhem to include costumes, inflatables, foam, slides and general hilarity on a fun filled course. They are even pitting Hen Parties against Stag parties, so if you are the competitive type, this could be for you. Not only this, but it includes 1 night accommodation and free night club entry in the evening.
  • At £120pp, “Party and Pamp” package offered by Freedom Ltd for hens gets you 1 Night Luxury Hotel with Breakfast, pampering at their Health Club followed by Afternoon Tea & Guest List Nightclub Entry in the evening. Budget bridal parties will love this I am sure.
  • For £139pp, HenHeaven is offering a package to include 2 nights accomodation, 2 club night entries (Fri & Sat night) and a Burlesque Dance experience over a few hours with some fun props to learn some great new moves!

  • At £175pp, Acacia cottages offers beautiful large cottages (e.g. sleeps up to 18 & has 5 bathrooms) for 2 nights and free transfers in/out of town. You’ll be greeted with canapes, an indoor pool, hot tub, steam room, gym equipment & table football. You’ll have to factor in additional costs for food, drink & activities, but the hen’s would pay this at the time.
  • At £184pp, if you fancy an upmarket Casino night with the girls, 2 nights in a 4✭ hotel and free night club entry, then the HenWeekends folk can help.
  • At £185, “Sherwood Shakers” experience will allow Nottingham Hen parties to experienc 2 nights in 4✭ hotel in town, a Cocktail Mixing Masterclass, a choice of Dancing Activities, unlimited use of Spa Facilities & Guestlist Nightclub Entry. This is really a fantatsic deal & GoHen also offer single booking options to save on the hassle.

If your Hens have more in their budget to blow, there are even more games to play:

  • At £203 pp, “All that Jazz” experience by Henweekends includes a River cruise, Chicago (the musical) dance lesson followed by a VIP guest club entry and 2 nights accommodation.
  • At £220pp, “Bikes, Bows & Beauty” by Nottingham Driving offers non-stop experiences as well as 2 nights accomodation. You be on Quad Bikes and Rage Buggies, Archery + a Spa Day. Exhausting, but memorable!
  • For a bespoke package where you can choose limitless activities, and your accomodation, Hen Heaven have the facility for you to do just this…anything from Gin tasting to perfume creation and over 100’s more tailored packages, just pop over to their website where the sky is the limit.

Getting to Nottingham

As you can see, Nottingham is in the heart of the UK which is great if you have Hens living all over the place and is really easy to get to.

East Midlands airport is a 24 minute drive for anyone in Scotland, Ireland, Channel Islands or further afield.

London and Manchester are under a 2 hour train/ car ride.

There’s actually no excuse for any of your mates not being able to make it and no-one can complain as it’s as central as you can get.

Hen Party Bristol

Hen Party Bristol

Why Bristol?

This is one of the more popular UK destinations for Hen Parties; I should know, as I organised one myself in this glorious town. Sadly the suite of strippers at that night club no longer perform there, but there’s plenty going on here to accommodate all your bridal party needs. The Bristol Underground Scene has been around since the 1980’s where partying and music is integral to this town and with over 20,000 students, you are spoilt for choice in terms of bars, hen activities and decent accommodation. Not being in London you also keep the costs down too. Winner.

Daytime Activities for the    ultimate Bristol Hen Party

1. Bristol has art at its centre, having raised the likes of Banksy and Damien Hirst. So why not try your hand at a spot of  Nude life drawing with the girls and compare pencil skills :-o.

2. For something more active, how’s about getting proper local and experience the, “West Country Games” for hens in Bristol?! Your host takes fancy-dressed hens through 9 completely bonkers outdoor/ indoor games, including total wipeout and prizes!

3. The Bristol Ferry offers a fantastic themed Hen boat parties. So for 2-3 hours, have a party down the Avon, stopping at waterside pubs as you go. Choose from a sophisticated Cream Tea party, Strawberries & Fizz cocktail party, or a Rum & Reggae themed sun-downing party.

4. A more sedate crew might be happy taking in the beautiful Somerset countryside from a 3 hr Hot Air Balloon ride!

Evening hen do ideas

The night scene in Bristol is well known and there’s a lot of night time fun to be had, depending on what you fancy……..

  • If it’s a night on the cobbles you are after, you can’t go wrong by heading to St.Nicholas Street for a short bar crawl – crucial when in high heels. Bars around here include old faithfuls: O’Neils, Revolution, Brewdog and Slug ‘n Lettuce.  You’ll also find some fun eclectic bars such as a diner/ dance bar called, “Start the Bus“, or a spot of karaoke at “Obento“, a gin or two at, “The Mothers Ruin” or smoke shisha with your cocktail at, “Nova“.
  • Needing a dinner / drinks package for the evening in a bar with bags of atmosphere, well there are plenty geared up for hen parties in Bristol, each with its own type of food and atmosphere. The venues range from the cheap and cheerful to the more sophisticated private dining rooms. Follow this link at “Design my night” for a full breakdown of these offerings.
  • OK ladies, the Dreamboys do a regular Hen Party Strip Show in Bristol and there is a whole evening package that can be purchased per person (so to speak!). This package includes: a complimentary welcome cocktail, fabulous Drag Queen compare, the main event, meet & greet the performers with free photos and the important guestlist nightclub entry.
  • There are several companies which collectively offer over 140 hen evening activities –  too many to mention. But whatever you fancied, you’ll likely be able to find it in Bristol. Here is some food for thought…..Cocktail making, wine tasting, burlesque dancing, bollywood dancing, mambo, cheerleading, twerking, chocolate making, zombie apocalypse.

Bristol hens’ accommodation

One of the main advantages of holding the hen party in Bristol is being able to find reasonably priced accommodation in the heart of  town. When I booked for my Bride to be, my main concern was folk not booking it for themselves in time or some of the hens needing to pull out without much notice. So from personal experience, it was helpful to group book in advance  through a large hotel booking site with the option of free amendments/ cancellations up to 24 hours before the date and everyone paying their own bill at the hotel (“pay at hotel” option). This also helps all the hens to spread out their costs, as some of the activities above would need to be paid for well in advance.

According to TripAdvisor in 2020, these are the TOP 5 PARTY HOTELS in Bristol and offer reasonable nightly rates for groups, in order of the best:

  1. The Bristol, Prince Street, Bristol BS1 4QF – 4 star, hotel situated on the lovely quayside
  2. Mercure Bristol Holland House, Redcliff Hill, BS1 6SQ – 4 star, urban chic hotel with open plan areas
  3. Hotel Du Vin Bristol, The Sugar House Narrow Lewins Mead, BS1 2NU – 4 star, boutique and trendy
  4. Ibis Bristol Centre, Explore Lane, BS1 5TY – 3 star, on the habourside with easy access to main roads out of the city
  5. Bristol Marriott Royal, College Green, BS1 5TA – 4 star in the heart of Bristol city centre

Getting into and around Bristol

Easy for most folk in the UK and beyond to get here.

Bristol Airport is only 7 miles from town, with Cardiff airport approximately 32 miles away. Airlines like Ryanair, Easyjet, Thomas Cook and BMI regional fly in/ out of Bristol from most UK destinations, and beyond. This is really useful if you have any hens needing to travel in from abroad.

It’s about 1.5hr drive from London and Birmingham, but it is easier to get into the centre of Bristol on the train as the queues to drive into the city have a bit of a bad reputation, not to mention finding somewhere to park – but of course, driving is an option if you need to bring in lots of hen decorations etc. Suggest you see hotels above, as some of these have parking.

Trains go to Bristol frequently, but be warned, “Bristol Parkway” is OUT of town, so don’t accidentally book this or jump off early here (unless someone is picking you up)! It’s Bristol Temple Meads which is the train station in central town that you likely want.

Once in town, there’s a fairly good black cab network, or I would advise the Uber taxi facility. I think it’s worth having the Uber app downloaded on your phone and perhaps setting up a kitty before you go into which Hens can put in £10 each for travel. This is just a suggestion, but could save a lot of hassle (and stress) on the night by the less generous taxi-paying members of the Hen crew – we all know who they are likely to be.

Dublin Ireland things to do

Dublin seems to be the favourite hen do destination in Ireland and has a lot of things on offer for hen parties looking for the ‘craic when the evening rolls around. Packages for a group of hens is often easier to book and loads are available. Depends what you think your hens would like the most, but you can pick from any of these as a starter for 10:

1. FATHER TED PARTIES – Believe it or not, this is a thing in Ireland and a few companies offer these! “Shindig Planner” will organise a Father Ted party for you and your hens in Dublin…Further afield, Carricks self-catering offers a x2 night self catering hen package which is around 155 EURO per person to include a party bus, Father Ted Party activity, a 3 course meal, and a private area in nightclub. Oh go aaaan!

2. IRISH DANCE NIGHT – the “Irish Dance Party” company will host you and your hens, will be MC’d by a professional Irish musician where you’ll see various performances by award winning Irish dance groups and can get involved later on.

3. COCKTAIL MAKING CLASSES – Of course there are a few of these going, but one of the best reviews lie with the flaring cocktail makers of, “Bad Bobs” of Temple Bar.

4. POLE DANCING – “Pole Dance Ireland” run packages in many towns of Ireland and these guys eat, sleep and breathe pole dancing, so you’d be in safe hands.

5. KARAOKE NIGHT – There are over 6 Karaoke hotspots in Dublin with one of the best being Ukiyo. This venue has been around for over 15 years, is in the heart of the city and covers 2 floors. It houses some of the most delicious cocktails and Asian themed food.

Travel to Ireland

Flying is cheap and easy to book, with flight times from London to Dublin only being 1 hour 35 mins. Aer lingus and Ryan Air have a lot of daily flights, but there are many more airlines available. If timing is an issue, I always find SkyScanner.com is really helpful, as it will look up trips where each way may be with a separate airline, but you can buy as a one off return trip.

To make it easier, simply search the flight times you are looking at from the RyanAir website, then copy/ paste the url link into an email or a WhatsApp to all the Hens, for them to modify & book flights for themselves.

Ferries do travel between Liverpool and Dublin, but take nearly 8 hours and arguably more expensive at around £68 as a foot passenger – then you have to factor in the travel to get to/ from the ports. Probably not worth it for a weekend and I wouldn’t recommend it after a party!

Hen Party Holiday Packages

The activities in the ideas section above can all be found within various packages from many companies. My view is that you are better off booking your flights and hen party packages separately, as total hen packages which include travel always seem much more expensive, plus travel could become an issue if there’s a problem with flights and you are having to go through a 3rd party for a group booking. But there are some nice accommodation + hen activity packages worth looking at.

Dublin has several hotel hen packages. The Temple Bar Hotel has put together a nice but simple package so that the hens can celebrate the evening in one placed and be totally catered for. At €65.00 per person, hens can sit down for a 3 course meal, followed by a 2 hr cocktail masterclass & finish the night off in our brand new venue “Buskers On The Ball” where you will have a reserved Ping Pong, Pool, Foos Ball or Shuffle Board table for 2 hours of fun followed by dancing until late!

Hen party weekend spa packages in Ireland could be a way forward either for those who want to mix it up from the city night out with relaxing daytime or those getting active in the great outdoors looking for some pampering the next day. Some of the best Hen spa breaks in Ireland include:

      1. The Imperial Hotel with Escape Spa (Cork),
      2. The Castlemartyr Resort with floor-ceiling windows (Cork),
      3. The Marker Hotel with infinity pool & views of Dublin,
      4. Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa (with ESPA spa) outside Dublin at the base of the Wicklow Mountains,
      5. The G Hotel designed by Philip Tracey (Galway)
      6. The Park Hotel with luxurious rituals at the SAMAS spa overlooking the bay at Kenmare

If a luxury hen party weekend is what you are after, you can’t go wrong with “the Ultimate Hen Weekend” package by the glorious Castleknock Hotel and Country Club (4*). Not only do you get to enjoy Dublin, but the €239pps package includes a fizzy wine greeting, half board, a spa treatment and finger food platters, with the snappy 1930’s New York Cocktail bar with an outdoor terrace for afterwards. In fact, everything you really need is on site.

Cheap Hen do

Cheap hen do packages also exist to help those on a budget. RyanAir always seems to offer the best flight deals and almost insanely cheap when everyone books in advance, even as low as £20! A budget travel company which deals specifically with Hen Travel and operates from Ireland worth a look is “Budget Travel” at  https://www.budgettravel.ie/hen-party-holidays

There are a few bargain hen do package companies which operate from Ireland itself which is worth perusing so you can compare costs between towns and similar packages in house. These are, “The Foxy Hen“, “Shingdig Planner“, “Hen IT” and “Hen Party Sligo“.

I wish you the luck of the Irish and hope this has helped you in pulling together a fantastic Hen Do with relative ease. Apparently if you were Irish, you’d already be lucky enough.
